Some More Detail on the YMCA Involvement

(1) Flyers, Documents, T-shirts, etc, should have the phrase "A Program of the University YMCA" on them. A good place would be the lower right hand corner, in relatively small font - it shouldnt interfere with whatever message we are actually trying to put out there.

(2) We are required to formally have two events in collaboration with other programs of the YMCA - this is easy to do, they can be jointl planned lectures, fundraisers, whatever. But if we dont do two in a year, we get put on probabtion, so we need to remember to do them.

(3) Young Leaders - The Y is trying to throw together some kind of leadership development thing where prospective leaders from different Y programs (socially, culturally and environmentally motivated programs) would do some activities together. It will be free. If any of you that are freshmen or sophomores are interested, or if you know of freshmen and sophomores who show leadership potential on a committee or project, get their names and emails. I will compile a list of interested people for the Y - saying you are interested will NOT commit you to doing anything, but you will hear about what they end up planning and can decide whether you want to do this or not at that time.

(4) Day of Service - This will be kinda like a half-day of service actually, held on April 20th. People will go to different places depending on their interests such as Allerton park, the Mckinley foundation, the Humane Society, Soup Kitchens, Books for Prisoners, etc. Additionally we get to meet other people who are interested in volunteering and doing useful things with their time. We should go and we should get our members to go. It will end with a BBQ at the YMCA, as a reward, which is also a publicity event for anohter Y-group - Invisible Conflicts.

(5) Using the Y's listserv - Our events should be publicized on the Y's listserv, and at the Y building as well. YMCA emails go out on Mondays, so you need to have this sent to Kasey (kasey at universityymca dot org) by Sunday evening.

(6)  Meeting Kasey: Most other Y programs take advantage of the Ys organizational support and occasionally of the available funding or assisstance with SORF Applications - we should to. It would be good if many of our committe chairs (Events, Publicity, Fundraising especially, but also Treasurer and Outreach if you find time).  Her normal availability is TU before 11, after 4
W before noon, after 2, TH pretty much all day before 5. Just email her (kasey at universityymca dot org) and make an appointment sometime. We should be talking to her about funding, fundraising ideas, publicity assistance, collaborating with other groups, and stuff of that sort, and just general committee management stuff. It's great to have a professional around who's job is to help student organizations run better.
