8th Board Meeting 03/06/2008
We need to make a template for project posters that will be sent to the international conference. Laura, Karen, and Suhail were appointed to work on it. It should be done by early this week, so that project leaders will be able to finalize their posters by March 24th. Engineering Council (www.ec.uiuc.edu/apply/) and the Student Sustainability Committee (aka Student Clean Energy Committee, www.vcsa.uiuc.edu/campuscommittees/ ) are taking applications for board members for next year. The links will take you to applications. We'd like at least a little representation on these committees. The Student Sustainability Committee is a great place to make a difference. They get loads of money from their fees, but need more people to find the best ways to spend it. Applications are due March 28th. Work on memorizing EWB's mission. Everyone failed this week's quiz. There was a lot of talk on recruitment methods. Suhail created a forum on the website to discuss solutions. Paul C brought up the idea of taking a census of some kind. It wasn't talked about much and kind of faded out of my memory, but it sounded like a worthwhile undertaking. Ask projects why they aren't on committees. There are tons of people on projects, are they unaware of the board and committees? If you missed it, EOH was a feast of technical prowess. Our booth looked good, and people enjoyed consuming our information. We didn't quite win, but people put their "hands on" our creations and liked it, so we definitely qualified!!! Congratulations Patrick for a successful EOH. There will be a "wrap-up" meeting Monday.

held events committee meeting - organized to learn about the cool professors, going to collaborate with curriculum
set up a couple of meetings with professors outside of engineering - planning to speak to them about events and recruiting their students
met with EC service chair to discuss a bed net fundraiser - I think more collaboration with EC is good for EWB
met with Net Impact - they are an MBA organization dedicated to social entrepreneurship
talked to office of volunteer programs (ie. my roommate) about possible collaboration with PCF and non-profit career fair - david, let's chat
