The fundraising committee organized the Goblin Insurance sale on the afternoon of October 26. We thank all those who have kindly bought our insurance and contributed to our projects. We wish the donors will have a nice and "goblin-free" Halloween. In case of inquiry, please email Karen Ng at karen [dot] yyng [at] gmail [dot] com. Please include your contact information and address in case a clean-up is needed. We shall try to send out our volunteers to help clean up within a day or two.
Join in teams of two to sell insurance from Engineers Without Borders. In case a back yard is messed up during Halloween, Engineers Without Borders will help clean up. All profits go into EWB projects and running expense of our UIUC–chapter. Other details are found on Facebook and in the specially prepared flyer for this event. Email ewb-fundraising [at] googlegroups [dot] com if you have picked a friend to team up with.

More information about Dump & Run…..
A: The basic concept of Dump and Run is simple: we collect reusable items that students (and folks in the community) would otherwise dispose of during the typical move-out/Spring cleaning period in May. We then sell the collected items at an annual garage sale held in late August (when students come back). This project reduces litter and consumer waste, saves space in landfills, lowers dumping costs for certified housing and apartments, provides inexpensive items for folks to purchase in the fall, and acts as a major fundraiser for the University YMCA. Last year we had 5 semi-truck trailers FULL of stuff – ALL donated to the University Y.
A: It is probably a lot easier to say what we are NOT collecting: individual computer monitors, sleeper sofas, large appliances (stoves, washers, and dryers), non-working electronics, tires, non-working computers or parts, holiday decorations, video and audio cassettes, large exercise equipment, or mattresses. The Habitat for Humanity store downtown
A: For more information about Dump and Run, other special projects, and ways to give to the University YMCA, please contact Becca Guyette, Director of Development, through email or call at 337-1500. For more information about our student programs, please contact Kasey Umland, Program Director, through email or call at 337-1500.
A: Certainly! We always need volunteers to pull this off and to make the whole operation run smoothly. And when you do volunteer, you get first dibs on the things collected (after only 4 hours of volunteering) - and we get an unbelievable amount of great things donated! Please email Kasey Umland (kasey [at] universityymca [dot] org) if you are able to volunteer during any of the times listed above.

Here is the new information on registration. You can register on the quad on Wed, Thur, or Fri of next week (4/16-4/18) from 11am until 2 pm. If you register early, the cost is only $13. We'll have a table set up on the south side of the union. If you can't make it to the early registration, but you want to register early, send me an email. You can still register the day of the race for $15. This fundraiser is to benefit our international development project in Nigeria. There will be a marked course, an official timeclock, and lots of fun. The race will start just off the parking lot on the east side of Lincoln. Registration starts at 9 am and the race starts at 10 am.
We'd like to release the results of the fundraiser held last month where EWB asked everyone to donate to their local chapter with the added bonus of earning grants for those who received the most donations. This past week, EWB-USA announced that it is officially one of the winners of the $50,000 Challenge, and our chapter succeeded in raising 48 donations, earning us a $1,000 grant on top of what you donated! This is a momentous occasion for everyone in Engineers without Borders across the country and especially for our chapter. Combined with our also very successful banquet and auction held last week, we've already almost reached our fundraising goal for the year. Thanks to everyone for making these fundraisers such a success.
